Three years is a long time for me to be writing a blog that covers my experiences in doing genealogy which include our family, friends and clients. At times the posts may be more about family than genealogy, but many of them are about serendipity moments in which life seems to provide precious surprises of unexpected discovery. Generally the posts were written twice a week, but the past year has been very busy so the posts are about once a week. This coming year my goal is to write more often. There have been some dramatic changes in my life in the past three years and there is hope that my life may settle down. The projects have been stacking up and my focus is on completing them so there can be more focus on my personal research. With the dramatic changes to ancestry.com and familysearch.org there is a need to revisit my database to add and update information.
With my mother's passing there is a large collection of items from her life that need to be documented and preserved for future generations. Since my father's passing twenty-six years ago our mother had stored much of the family papers and now they sit in boxes in our home. What treasures there are within the collections of our family members?
It is with deep gratitude for the blessing of receiving these items that I move forward, sharing with others through this great tool - Gopher Genealogy. Copies are preserved of the posts as the Internet can be a tenuous means of maintaining our records. At this point using blogspot.com is a free service and it is priceless.
